TWC 234R was invited through Rallying with GPB club to attend the Manx International rally, to be on display with other rally cars including a Nissan 240 RS, Porsche RS, Lancia Integrale, Metro 6R4 and 205 T16 at the ceremonial start, then drive all the stages before the international field. TWC completed all stages through some very mixed and at times atrocious weather. She performed very well on the tight and twisty and bumpy lanes on the island, the only damage was to the front spoiler after a heavy landing over a !!! caution jump.
TWC was sporting a brand new Alan Sherwood Kugelfischer fuel injected engine with over 270bhp on tap, this engine has now been approved by both the MSA and FIA for use in there historic categories, it ran faultlessly and I can tell you even on a 4.6 cwp it was very torquey and fast. for those that like tarmac rallying and have never visited the Manx with all its history you should make it top priority to visit next year. Anyway we all departed Sunday for the early ferry back to blighty, car now back in the workshop waiting for spoiler repair, wash, polish and a service ready for its next outing at Rally day Castle Combe in September then the Halloween rally in Ireland in October.
SS13 Castletown OMG!.

Russell Brookes was very excited to get back in his old Tarmac special at the Race Retro show this weekend and after 30 years he still hasn`t lost his touch, driving the special stage as if he`d never been away.
